Was it just my childhood or does anyone else remember stories on the playground about people on Halloween handing out LSD laced ‘rub on’ tattoo’s (either by itself or wrapped around a stick of gum), known as Blue Star acid? I first heard about this when I was in first grade and so from six till I was about fourteen years old I spent every Halloween on the lookout for these tattoo’s, pouring out my trick or treat bag as soon as I arrived home sorting through the candies hoping there would be a treat. Oh how I wanted to be one of the lucky ones to find one in my bag, (in that way I felt much like Charlie from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on the look out for the ‘golden ticket’), but every year all I would get was sugar highs – no drug induced highs (sigh).

By the time I was 14 I gave up on finding any acid laced candy and started buying the substance off a dealer, that’s when it hit me that this “blue star tattoo” stuff was just a rumor; ‘Who the hell gives away drugs for free?’ What purpose would it serve the person handing it out? Why would anyone spend money on drugs and just give them to other people rather than take them themselves? 

I don’t know where this blue star tattoo stuff came from cause it has no merit. No one in the history of Halloweening in the 20^th and 21^st century has ever received these tattoo’s and in fact, no child has ever received drug laced Halloween candy from a stranger EVER!!! – kind of puts a damper on Halloween, eh?
